Desford update: render on, windows in, stairs fitted
Three weeks on from clearing the plot. New windows throughout, render front and back, the garage gable bricked and its pitched roof framed, a new staircase, and the rear garden fenced and turfed. The front is next.
Three weeks ago this plot was cleared in two days. This is where it is now. The Desford renovation runs alongside our larger sites, with a small team on it, and that small team has moved it a long way.
Outside
The upper floor is rendered front and back, and every window is new, anthracite frames throughout. The old flat roofed garage now has a brick gable and the timbers up for its pitched roof, the first step in turning it into an office. A new slab has been poured at the front and the services are being relocated to suit the new layout, so the front is dug up at the moment and will stay that way for a little while.
Inside
A new staircase is in, oak newels and a half landing, fitted before the plastering so the walls finish to it rather than around it. The old wallpaper is still up because it is not the priority yet. First fix comes next.
The garden
The back garden went from stumps and bare earth to new fencing on every side, a line of pleached trees along the boundary and a turfed lawn. The patio is still to come, once the trades have stopped walking across it.
Next up: the front landscaping, the garage roof, and first fix inside. More as it moves.
